The Fire Cycle Live
An all-new theatrical performance from the multimedia, multidisciplinary work The Fire Cycle will premiere at the Actors Bridge studio at the Darkhorse in Nashville June 27 and 28, 2025 featuring theatre, dance, and film.
This summer, Clay Steakley’s The Fire Cycle will come to life in a new work featuring performances from Steakley, dancer and choreographer Becca Hoback, the dance duo MauveTaupe (Spencer Grady and Phylicia Roybal), and actor Josh Inocalla.
Sponsored in part by a Thrive grant from Metro Arts, this performance consolidates three years of Steakley’s Fire Cycle offerings that include a book of poetry, an album of instrumental music, multiple short films (screened at the Defy Film Festival, Cadence Poetry Film Festival, and Kindling Arts Fest), and a 2023 live workshop performance at the OZ Arts Brave New Works Lab.
The Fire Cycle is a multidisciplinary art piece that explores our connections to one another through a series of ritual moments that focus on impermanence, deep time, and the isolated nature of our contemporary lives.
